About
WhyIsMyBill explains residential electric bills with the filings utilities already make. It is not a utility, not a commission, and not a plan marketplace.
Brandon is the owner and the editor. A number gets on a page when it can be recomputed from EIA-861 or Electric Power Monthly, or when a commission document has been read. The reviewed date for this build is October 14, 2026.
If a sentence says “needs verification,” the desk does not have a source for it yet. That still includes most smaller utilities' discount programs, ZIP-code matching, estimated-read rules, and any claim that data centers added a specific dollar amount to a household bill. Rate cases for the largest utilities are cited where a 2025 or 2026 document was read.
